October 29, 2017 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Crossing Borders
“Crossing Borders celebrates music with “dual citizenship.” This program features Dvorak’s popular “American” String Quartet written while he was spending the summer in Iowa and blends African American spirituals with a distinctly Czech flare. Works by Peruvian-American composer Gabriela Lena Frank and Egyptian-American composer Hamza El Din display dazzling transformations of traditional fold music that put the composers’ heritage front and center.”

October 29, 2017, 3-5pm

Hugo Wolf: Italian Serenade (1887)
Gabriela Lena Frank: Leyendas – An Andean Walkabout (2001)
Hamza El Din: Escalay Water Wheel) (1971)
